Product Launch Event Ideas with a Robot: How to Plan the Script

A launch event is built around one key moment – the product reveal or the ribbon cutting – and everything that leads up to it and follows it. A humanoid robot fits exactly into that moment: it enters at the agreed cue according to your script and creates a shot that guests and the media will take away with them. Here is how to put such a script together, step by step.

What makes a good product launch script

A good script has three parts: the build-up, the key moment and the follow-through. The build-up sets the mood and explains why guests are there. The key moment is short, precisely timed and visually strong. The follow-through gives space to photographers, journalists and guests who want a closer look at the product.

A common mistake is getting the priorities the wrong way round: long speeches, presentations with endless slides, and the reveal itself rushed through in a few seconds. Yet what guests remember most is that one moment when the curtain drops or the stage lights up. That is where most of your preparation should go.

  • build-up: welcome, brief context, why the product was created
  • key moment: the reveal, music, lighting, the robot's entrance
  • follow-through: time for the media, photos, a closer look at the product
  • a follow-on programme for guests who stay

What role a robot can play in the key moment

At a launch event, the robot is not a backdrop but part of the story. Our launch premiere programme is built around a timed entrance that follows your brand script – for example when a product is revealed or a new branch opens. The robot enters when the host or the show director gives the cue and performs an approved number.

If the robot is to do something with the product – stand next to it, point to it or hand it over – each such action is first tested at the rehearsal. Please bring the product or a full-size mock-up to the rehearsal. Handing over or holding objects is only possible if the production team verifies it at the rehearsal and confirms that it can be done safely.

  • the robot entering a darkened space and revealing the product
  • the robot as the "first guest" at a ribbon cutting for a store opening
  • a short dance entrance right after the reveal to lighten the mood
  • a closing appearance for photographers and video crews

The launch script, step by step

The following process reflects how a premiere with a robot is prepared in practice. Specific timings and the length of the number are always confirmed by the production team according to your programme and venue.

  1. Brief and key moment

You describe the product, the goal of the event, the audience and the moment when the robot should enter. You send the run of show and a contact for the show director or agency.

  2. Entrance concept

We propose a branded entrance script, music and cues for sound and lighting, and clarify what the robot does and what the host does.

  3. Venue check

We confirm the floor surface, the access route, the space around the robot, a backstage area for preparation and the power supply.

  4. On-site rehearsal

We run through the entrance with the show director, host and photographers and test every action involving the product or mock-up.

  5. The premiere

The robot enters at the agreed moment and performs the approved script; the operator controls it throughout.

  6. Time for the media

If agreed, a short appearance for photographers and video crews follows, then interaction with guests.

Opening a store or showroom: extra things to consider

A store opening differs from a product launch in a hall mainly because you cannot control how many people will come or where they will stand. Crowds often form at the entrance, so the robot needs a reserved safe area that people do not enter without instructions from the crew.

It helps to split the programme into the key moment at the entrance and follow-on appearances inside, where guests can take photos with the robot. The operator manages distance and the queue, with an assistant helping when visitor numbers are higher. Any outdoor part in front of the store is assessed by the production team in advance – the surface, the weather and a covered alternative are what matter.

  • reserve an area at the entrance just for the robot and its crew
  • agree the robot's route with the venue's operations team
  • set up a photo spot with your logo or product in the background
  • brief the store staff on the running order and appearance times

Content for the media and social channels

A launch event is largely about what remains afterwards: photos, short videos, coverage. If you plan for content in the script from the start, the key moment can be filmed from several angles and you will have material for your campaign and internal communication.

Tell your photographer and videographer the exact time of the entrance and where the reveal will take place. After the key moment, set aside a few minutes for the media only, so they do not have to compete with guests for space. Agree the terms for capturing and using photos and videos – including music and footage of guests – before the event, especially if you plan to use them in a paid campaign.

When you launch a product in several cities

If the product is presented across a series of stores or at several locations around the Czech Republic, our robot roadshow programme is a good fit. The format is tested at the first stop and then repeated according to the schedule. Travel logistics between stops, time buffers and a backup plan for each stop are all planned, and an overview of the series can be provided afterwards by agreement.

RobotShow prepares programmes for events across the Czech Republic, and events abroad are handled individually.

How to get started

A short description is all we need: what you are launching, when and where, how many guests you expect and which moment should be the highlight. From that, we will suggest where the robot fits into the script and what needs to be checked on site. The price is always quoted individually, based on the scope of the programme, the team's presence, the location and travel.

Not sure yet which programme to choose? Send a no-obligation inquiry via the English site and we will help you shape it. The date is only confirmed once the production team has confirmed it.

Frequently asked questions

Can the robot hold or hand over the product during the launch?

Only if we test that specific action at the rehearsal with the product or a mock-up. We will propose a safe way of doing it that supports the key moment.

How long does the robot perform at a premiere?

The key moment is a short staged entrance. The exact length and any additional appearances for the media and guests are confirmed by the production team according to your programme.

Is a robot suitable for opening a smaller store?

Yes, provided there is a level surface, a clear route and enough space for a safe distance. We can assess the space from photos or a floor plan.

Can we use footage from the premiere in our campaign?

Yes, we agree the terms for capturing and using photos and videos in advance, including music and footage of guests.
