Format and shots
Most social media content today is watched on a phone, so the format should be decided before the first shot. These simple rules make a big difference:
- shoot vertically for Reels, TikTok and Stories
- start with the audience's reaction, not an empty stage
- combine a close-up of the robot with a wide shot including guests for scale
- keep videos short, around 10–30 seconds
Why the audience matters as much as the robot
A robot on its own can look like a product demo. What makes a clip feel alive is people: surprised faces, phones in the air, guests laughing or joining in a dance. Opening with that reaction tells the viewer straight away that something special is happening.
The wide shot with guests is just as important. Without people in the frame, it is hard to tell how big the robot is, and much of the impact is lost. Alternating between a close-up of the robot's movement and a wider view of the room gives your video both detail and atmosphere, and makes it easier to edit into a short, punchy story.
The best moments to capture
A robot appearance usually has a few moments that are worth being ready for. Brief your photographer or videographer so they are in position before each one:
- the robot's entrance
- a dance appearance with guests
- photos together and gestures
- reactions of children and guests
Music and rights
On social media, use music from the platform's own library or licensed music. The track playing at the event is not automatically cleared for online use, and a video with unlicensed music may be muted or removed.
Use footage of guests and of clients' brands as agreed with the organiser. At corporate events, some guests may not wish to appear online, and brand material may be subject to the client's own rules. Settling this before the event saves you from having to re-edit or withdraw content later.
Agree on it in advance
Tell us when a photographer or videographer will be on site – we will time the robot's appearance with the filming in mind. A short conversation before the event helps everyone: your crew knows where and when the robot will appear, and we can plan the entrance and positions so the key moments happen in good light and in front of the camera.
If content for social media is one of the main goals of your event, mention it in your inquiry. It can influence where the robot performs, how the appearances are spread across the programme and how much space is left for guests to take their own photos and videos.
