The robot is always controlled by an operator
At every event, the robot is controlled and watched by an operator. The robot does not wander around on its own: the operator steers its walking, triggers prepared movements and keeps an eye on everything happening around it. If anything looks wrong – a guest steps too close, the space suddenly fills up or the surface turns out to be different from what was planned – the operator can end the appearance immediately and safely.
When a larger number of guests is expected, an assistant joins the operator. The assistant looks after the queue, reminds guests to keep a safe distance and helps people take photos in an orderly way. This lets the operator concentrate fully on the robot, while guests still get a relaxed, friendly experience rather than a cordoned-off exhibit.
Route and safe distance
Before the event, we agree with the organiser where exactly the robot will walk and perform. A good route is as important as the performance itself, because a humanoid robot walks best on a level, firm surface without obstacles. These are the basic rules we work with:
- a route without stairs, loose cables or slippery spots
- free space around the robot while it dances
- guests approach the robot following the operator's instructions
- a managed queue for photos with the robot
Children and crowds
At family days and in shopping centres, we expect children to be especially interested in the robot – and understandably so. To keep things calm and safe, we plan shorter appearances and a larger distance between the robot and the audience, and we agree with the organiser in advance on a space where a queue can form without blocking walkways or entrances.
In a dense crowd, the robot only moves among people under the operator's supervision and with a safe distance around it. Where the space is too packed for comfortable movement, we usually recommend a performance on a stage or a defined area, so that everyone can see the robot well and no one is pushed towards it.
What you can do as the organiser
Event planners and agencies can make preparation much smoother with a few simple steps. The earlier we receive this information, the better we can plan the route, the timing of appearances and the number of team members on site.
- send a floor plan and a short description of the venue
- reserve a backstage area for the robot's breaks
- brief your staff and host or presenter on how the appearances will run
- have a covered alternative ready for an outdoor event
Breaks and backstage area
A robot appearance is not one long continuous show. Between appearances, the robot returns to a backstage area where the team can prepare it for the next one. A reserved, quiet space away from guests keeps this part of the programme out of sight and prevents curious visitors from approaching the robot when it is not performing.
Planning breaks also helps your programme flow: short, well-timed appearances at key moments – the arrival of guests, an opening, a dance segment – usually create a stronger impression than a robot that is present all the time.
Plan a safe robot appearance with us
RobotShow prepares programmes for events across the Czech Republic, and we handle events abroad individually. Tell us the type of event, the venue, the expected number of guests and whether children will attend, and we will suggest a format and a safe setup for the robot. The price is quoted individually. Send us a no-obligation inquiry and we will get back to you with a proposal.
Frequently asked questions
Can the robot touch guests?
Interactions follow the operator's instructions – for example a handshake or a photo together. The robot never moves into a crowd without the operator's control.
What happens if the robot stops?
The operator has a procedure for ending the appearance safely. A backup programme in case of a technical problem is agreed in advance.
Is the robot suitable for events with children?
Yes, with the right setup. For family events and shopping centres we plan shorter appearances and a larger distance, and we agree on a space for the queue with the organiser.
Can guests dance with the robot?
Guests can join in the dance following the instructions of the operator, who keeps an eye on a safe distance around the robot.
