The operator: a person in charge at every moment
Every robot appearance has a trained operator behind it. The operator steers the robot as it walks, triggers the prepared movements and dance sequences, and keeps an eye on everything happening around it. If the situation calls for it, the operator can safely end the appearance at any moment.
For event planners, this is the single most important point to understand. The robot is not wandering through your venue on its own or improvising among guests. A person is responsible for where it goes, when it moves and how close it gets to people. That is what makes it possible to bring a humanoid robot onto a stage, onto a dance floor or into a crowded reception.
The operator works hand in hand with the production side of the team. While the operator focuses on the robot and its surroundings, the producer coordinates timing with your host, DJ or technical crew, so the robot enters exactly when the programme needs it.
Prepared sequences: why the performance runs smoothly
Dance numbers and gestures are prepared and tested before the event. Rather than inventing movements on the spot, the operator launches sequences that have already been rehearsed and checked. This is what allows a performance to run reliably and stay in sync with the music.
A prepared sequence is simply a set of movements put together in advance, for example a short dance routine, a wave to greet guests or a pose for photographs. Because these sequences are known and tested, everyone involved knows what will happen and when: the DJ knows which track to play, the host knows when to introduce the robot and the photographer knows where to stand.
Anything new, such as handling objects or a movement that has not been used before, is always checked at a rehearsal first. If something has not been verified, it does not go into the live programme.
What this means for your event
- the robot is controlled by a person throughout its appearance, never left to run unattended
- dance numbers are tied to agreed music and cues, so they fit naturally into your schedule
- the operator watches the space around the robot and keeps a safe distance from guests
- the appearance can be ended safely at any time if the situation changes
- new movements or tasks with objects are tested at a rehearsal before they appear in front of guests
How we prepare for a specific event
Choosing the programme
Based on the type of event, we select the appearances and the music. A gala evening, a conference opening and a trade show booth each call for a different approach, and we plan the robot's moments to match your schedule.
Checking the space
We review the route the robot will take, the floor surface and the backstage area where the team prepares. A flat, firm surface and a clear route without steps or loose cables make the appearance safer and smoother.
Rehearsal
On site, we walk through the entrance and the positions with your team. This is where we confirm the cues with the host or DJ and make sure everyone knows exactly when the robot comes on.
The performance
The operator controls the robot for the entire duration of each appearance, from the first step to the moment it leaves the stage or the floor.
What we need from you as the organiser
Good preparation on your side makes the operator's job easier and the result better. You do not need any technical knowledge; a few practical details are enough for us to plan the appearance properly.
RobotShow prepares programmes for events across the Czech Republic, and events abroad are handled individually, so it also helps to tell us early where your event will take place.
- the event schedule and the moments when you would like the robot to appear
- a contact for the venue coordinator and for the DJ, sound engineer or band
- a description or photos of the space and the floor surface
- where the team can prepare the robot away from guests
Planning a robot appearance? Send us a brief inquiry
If you are considering a robot for a corporate party, conference, gala or trade show, send us a no-obligation inquiry with the type of event, date, venue and approximate number of guests. We will suggest where the robot fits into your programme and how the appearances can be prepared. The price is always quoted individually, based on the scope of the programme and the location.
Frequently asked questions
Does the robot move on its own at an event?
No. A trained operator controls the robot throughout its appearance, steering it as it walks and triggering prepared movements and dance sequences.
Can the operator stop the robot during a performance?
Yes. The operator watches the surroundings at all times and can safely end the appearance at any moment.
Are the dance routines improvised?
No. Dance numbers and gestures are prepared and tested in advance, which is why the performance runs reliably and stays in time with the music.
Can the robot do something new just for our event?
New movements or tasks with objects are always checked at a rehearsal first. Tell us your idea in the inquiry and we will let you know what can be prepared.
