Family Day Entertainment Ideas for Kids and Adults

A good company family day programme has one main highlight that the day revolves around, plus enough smaller activities to keep both children and adults entertained. A dancing robot works as an attraction for the whole family: children want a photo with it, adults want to film it. Here is how to plan the day and keep the robot safe among children.

How to plan a family day that works for everyone

A family day is not a party – families arrive and leave gradually, children need breaks and adults want time to chat with colleagues. So rather than one continuous block, plan several distinct highlights spread across the day, with more relaxed activities running in between.

The strongest time is usually mid-afternoon, when the grounds are at their busiest. That is where the main performance belongs. In the morning and early evening, shorter programme points are enough for those who arrive early or stay late.

Put breaks into the schedule too. The robot does not perform non-stop – between appearances it is prepared backstage and the crew checks the equipment. If you plan for this in advance, you can fill the breaks with other activities and the programme will have no dead spots.

  1. Families arrive

Welcome, finding your way around the site, and a first short dance appearance by the robot for early arrivals.

  2. Morning activities

Workshops for children, a site tour for adults, sports competitions.

  3. Lunch and free time

Time to eat and chat; the robot takes a break backstage.

  4. Afternoon show

The main performance on stage at the strongest point of the programme, announced by the host.

  5. Photos with the robot

After the show, a managed queue for family photos.

  6. Closing the day

Competition results, a prize draw and goodbyes.

Programme ideas for children

Children enjoy activities they can join in with, and clearly announced programme points they can look forward to. It helps to give them a programme for the day or a game card for collecting stamps from different stations.

Keep different age groups in mind. Younger children need shorter, calmer activities close to their parents, while older children enjoy competitions and challenges. The robot's main performance is one of the few moments that captures everyone at once, so announce it in advance – in the day's programme, on a board at the entrance and through the host.

  • an art workshop or face painting
  • sports stations and relay races for different age groups
  • a game card with stamps from each station and a small reward at the end
  • a dance appearance by the robot that children can join following the crew's instructions
  • a photo with the robot as a souvenir of the day

Programme ideas for adults

Adults often come to a family day mainly for the children, but they appreciate having something interesting for themselves too. A company family day is a good opportunity to show families where their loved ones work.

The main show with the robot works for both groups at once – children watch the dance, adults film it. If you wish, the host can introduce the performance with a few words about technologies your company uses or plans to use.

  • a guided tour of the workplace or production site
  • a short presentation of the company and its plans by management
  • a seating area with refreshments and room for conversation
  • a photo corner with the company logo for family photos

A robot among children: how to keep it safe

At family events we expect more interest from children, so the programme is adapted. The robot is always controlled by an operator who watches its surroundings and can end an appearance at any time. When visitor numbers are higher, an assistant helps manage the queue and distance.

For family days we choose shorter appearances, a greater distance and a safety zone around the robot that children do not enter without the crew's instructions. Photos are taken in a managed queue. Interactions such as a photo together happen only on the crew's instructions – the robot does not move into a crowd without the operator's control.

If you have a photographer on site, agree the time of the main show and the robot photos with them. Family photos from a company day are popular content for internal communication; with footage of children, though, always respect the parents' wishes.

  • reserve an area where a photo queue can form safely
  • a route for the robot free of stairs, cables and slippery spots
  • brief the host and staff on the running order of the appearances
  • ask parents to keep younger children close during the performance

Outdoors or indoors? Technical requirements

Family days often take place outdoors – on the company grounds, in a car park or in a park. Outdoor events are possible, but they require more preparation than an indoor hall. Grass, gravel, sand and wet surfaces are problematic for a walking humanoid, so we assess outdoor areas in advance; a stage or covered area is ideal.

Think about the weather too. Rain and extreme temperatures can limit the performance, so it pays to have a covered alternative – a tent or a roofed stage – and to agree in advance who decides on moving an appearance. The robot needs a backstage area for preparation and breaks with access to power.

How to request a family day programme

To propose a programme, send us the type of event, the date, the venue, the approximate number of visitors including children, and the time of the main programme. We concentrate the robot's appearances around the strongest moments of the day. The team is on site for the whole booked time window, while the robot performs in shorter appearances with breaks. RobotShow prepares programmes for events across the Czech Republic, and events abroad are handled individually.

The price is always quoted individually, based on the number of appearances, how long the team is present, the location and travel. If you are still exploring your options, simply send a no-obligation inquiry via the English site and we will suggest how the robot could fit into your day.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, under the crew's supervision. For family events we choose shorter appearances, a managed queue and a greater distance.

Can the robot perform all day at a family day?

The team is present for the whole booked time window, while the robot performs in shorter appearances with breaks spread across the day.

What if it rains?

We recommend a covered alternative, such as a tent or a roofed stage, and agreeing in advance who decides on moving an appearance.
